Correct material. Correct size. Complete venting path.

Chimney liner systems designed for the appliance

Flexible and rigid relining systems for fireplaces, wood stoves, gas appliances and oil equipment, selected by fuel, temperature, chimney condition and manufacturer requirements.

A liner is not a universal metal tube. Fuel type, appliance input, connector size, chimney height, offset, condensation risk and existing flue dimensions all affect the design. We build the estimate around a listed system, compatible components and a complete route from the appliance connection through the top termination.

System options

Liner materials and system options

Final selection must match the appliance listing, local requirements and the liner manufacturer's installation instructions.

01

304 stainless steel

Best forMany wood-burning and standard gas applications

A durable stainless option commonly used for wood and certain gas systems when the listed liner and warranty specifically approve the fuel and appliance. Available in flexible and rigid configurations.

02

316 / 316Ti stainless steel

Best forOil, coal, wood and demanding multi-fuel applications

Offers greater resistance to corrosive flue byproducts. 316Ti includes titanium stabilization and is frequently selected where fuel flexibility or harsher condensates require a higher-alloy system.

03

AL29-4C stainless steel

Best forSpecific high-efficiency or condensing appliance systems

A highly corrosion-resistant alloy used only where the appliance and vent manufacturer permit it. Condensing equipment requires a complete engineered vent system, not a generic fireplace liner.

04

Aluminum liner

Best forCertain listed Category I gas appliance applications

A cost-conscious option for compatible gas venting only. Aluminum is not used for wood, coal or oil and is not appropriate for every gas appliance, especially condensing or high-temperature systems.

05

Flexible liner

Best forMasonry flues with offsets or limited access

Can navigate bends and is available in light, heavy and extra-heavy wall constructions. Wall thickness, seam design and alloy are selected for the fuel and installation conditions.

06

Rigid liner sections

Best forStraight chimneys with adequate installation access

Provides a smoother interior and strong construction but requires a sufficiently straight path. Listed joints, supports and transition pieces are essential to the completed system.

07

Insulated liner system

Best forSolid-fuel systems and chimneys needing improved thermal performance

Uses listed wrap insulation, pour-in insulation or a factory-insulated product when required. Insulation helps maintain flue temperature and can be part of meeting the liner listing in an unlined or damaged chimney.

What to look for

When relining may be recommended

  • Clay tiles are cracked, missing, offset or deteriorated
  • The flue is oversized or incompatible with a connected appliance
  • A new stove, insert, furnace or water heater is being installed
  • Condensation, staining, odor or poor draft is occurring
  • The flue has gaps that can expose surrounding masonry or framing
What the scope can include

A complete written scope

  1. Appliance and fuel verification before sizing
  2. Flue measurement, access planning and obstruction review
  3. Listed liner, connectors, supports, top plate and termination
  4. Insulation where required by the system design
  5. Connection, sealing and operational checks within the agreed scope
How the work moves

Our service process

  1. Inspect and measure the existing chimney and appliance connection
  2. Select the listed alloy, diameter, wall type and insulation method
  3. Prepare the flue and remove obstructions where included
  4. Install, support and terminate the complete liner system
  5. Connect the appliance and complete applicable draft or operation checks
From selection to final review

A clear project path, with expectations in writing.

01

Inspection & documentation

We inspect accessible conditions, take measurements and document the parts of the system that shape your repair or installation options.

02

System options & written scope

You receive practical material and system choices, a defined scope of work and clear exclusions where hidden conditions may exist.

03

Contract, deposit & scheduling

Once you select your system:

  • We sign a clear, written contract
  • A 30% deposit is collected
  • We schedule your project
04

Installation & progress documentation

We protect the work area, install the approved scope and document important conditions and completed details as the project moves forward.

05

Cleanup & final inspection

We clean the property thoroughly. Most exterior construction sites are approximately 90-99% clean the same day. For qualifying multi-day masonry and exterior projects, our next-day closeout can include:

  • A final inspection
  • An additional magnetic sweep
  • Final drone photos when conditions and location allow
  • A complete quality-control review

Exact payment milestones, closeout steps and return visits are stated in the written contract for the selected project.

Service questions

Details worth understanding.

Final specifications depend on the inspected conditions, appliance listing, selected manufacturer and applicable local requirements.

Is a larger liner always better?+

No. Oversizing can slow and cool flue gases, while undersizing can restrict venting. The liner is sized to the appliance, fuel, chimney height and applicable tables or manufacturer instructions.

Can aluminum be used for a fireplace or oil furnace?+

No. Aluminum is limited to compatible gas applications specifically approved for that vent material. Solid fuel and oil normally require an appropriate listed stainless steel system.

Does every stainless liner need insulation?+

Not every installation is identical, but insulation is frequently required by the liner listing or needed to achieve the intended performance and clearance protection. We include it when the selected system or site conditions call for it.
