Know the system before you repair it

Chimney inspections built around clear evidence

A structured evaluation of the accessible chimney, fireplace, venting system, roofline and termination, with documentation that helps you make the next decision confidently.

01

The correct inspection depends on how the property and chimney are being used. We look beyond the firebox and evaluate the full path from the appliance connection to the top termination. When conditions require a closer look, camera scanning and roof-level documentation help identify concealed defects, improper sizing, moisture entry and fire-safety concerns.

System options

Inspection levels and diagnostic options

We recommend the scope that matches the property, appliance, transaction and reported problem.

01

Level 1 visual inspection

Best forRoutine annual service with no system changes or known problems

A visual review of readily accessible portions of the chimney, flue, fireplace or appliance connection and termination, plus basic operational observations where appropriate.

02

Level 2 camera inspection

Best forProperty transfers, new appliances, chimney fires or changed fuel type

Adds video scanning of the flue interior and review of accessible attics, crawlspaces and roof areas when relevant. Images are used to document liner joints, cracks, gaps, deposits and obstructions.

03

Leak and moisture assessment

Best forCeiling stains, damp odors, efflorescence or water around the firebox

A focused review of crown, cap, chase cover, masonry, flashing, roof intersection and interior water patterns to separate chimney leakage from nearby roof or condensation issues.

04

Draft and venting evaluation

Best forSmoke rollout, odor, weak draft or appliance venting concerns

Reviews flue sizing, connector configuration, termination height, available combustion air and visible factors that can interfere with safe draft. Specialized testing is recommended when conditions call for it.

What to look for

When a closer inspection is worth scheduling

  • A home sale, purchase or major renovation is planned
  • The appliance, fuel type or venting arrangement is changing
  • Smoke, odors, soot or carbon monoxide concerns are present
  • Water staining, loose masonry or damaged components are visible
  • The chimney has not been professionally evaluated in recent years
What the scope can include

A complete written scope

  1. Firebox, damper, smoke chamber and accessible flue
  2. Appliance connector and thimble where applicable
  3. Exterior masonry, crown, cap, flashing and roof intersection
  4. Photo documentation and practical repair priorities
  5. A written scope when corrective work is recommended
How the work moves

Our service process

  1. Review the appliance, fuel and reason for the inspection
  2. Protect the work area and examine accessible components
  3. Scan or test the system when the selected inspection calls for it
  4. Explain findings in plain language with supporting photos
  5. Prioritize maintenance, repair and replacement options
From selection to final review

A clear project path, with expectations in writing.

01

Inspection & documentation

We inspect accessible conditions, take measurements and document the parts of the system that shape your repair or installation options.

02

System options & written scope

You receive practical material and system choices, a defined scope of work and clear exclusions where hidden conditions may exist.

03

Contract, deposit & scheduling

Once you select your system:

  • We sign a clear, written contract
  • A 30% deposit is collected
  • We schedule your project
04

Installation & progress documentation

We protect the work area, install the approved scope and document important conditions and completed details as the project moves forward.

05

Cleanup & final inspection

We clean the property thoroughly. Most exterior construction sites are approximately 90-99% clean the same day. For qualifying multi-day masonry and exterior projects, our next-day closeout can include:

  • A final inspection
  • An additional magnetic sweep
  • Final drone photos when conditions and location allow
  • A complete quality-control review

Exact payment milestones, closeout steps and return visits are stated in the written contract for the selected project.

Service questions

Details worth understanding.

Final specifications depend on the inspected conditions, appliance listing, selected manufacturer and applicable local requirements.

Does every chimney need a Level 2 inspection?+

No. The correct level depends on the event and the condition of the system. A change in appliance, fuel, property ownership or a suspected chimney fire commonly justifies the added detail of a Level 2 inspection.

Can an inspection identify the exact source of a leak?+

It can often narrow the source substantially, but complex roof and masonry leaks may require controlled water testing or observation during weather. We separate confirmed findings from likely causes.
